Hejsan!

I love your English.

Seriously, shouldn't we talk english in here?

Sorry about my bad english.

It's the only anonymous forum available here and english is not suitable for all anonymous posts, that's the problem.

Besides, having this off-topic discussion in this thread is more disruptive than the choice of language if you ask me.

It seems like you miss a few, very important points here.

A) Only Swedish citizens can be members of the Piratpartiet, and the forum is restricted to members only.

B) We love to get feedback from all of our friends abroad never the less, so in this part of the forum you do not have to be a registred member to post.

This does not mean that Swedish citizens should take advantage of the possibility to start their own threads, in Swedish, here just because they are too cheep to SMS the 50 cent that it takes to become a member of the Piratpartiet.

Now, have I made myself clear, or do you want additional information?

So please, please, let this be a part of our forum, where all of our international friends can have their saying, in a language that we all understand! Not Swedish that less than 99.8% of the world's population understand. OK?

Actually, you don't have to formally join the party or pay anything merely to register a username in the forum. I'm not a party member, but I can still use the forum, and I consider this a wonderful opportunity for the rest of us to get involved in your discussions, provide feedback from potential voters, and maybe even allow our minds to be changed by your convincing arguments... ;)

Thus, there is even less reason to use the English-language section for threads in Swedish. If you have a technical problem registering or logging in, I suggest contacting the party representatives using e-mail (in my opinion, they ought to provide a separate contact address for technical issues, but I have no knowledge of how they distribute these tasks internally).

However, I see no reason to avoid the English-language section merely because you are a Swedish national, or fluent in Swedish. We need people involved with the party to explain what's going on in Sweden also to an international audience. Rather than merely answering questions, why not provide some background for visitors to be able to ask more intricate questions?

¡Sorry! Back to English...

I stand corrected. You are right. I've also had pointed out to me that I was wrong about foreign citizens becoming members. Of course they can, and we welcome every single one of them.

Right you are! It actually happened to me the other day. Someone provided a little bit of simple math and, hey presto!, I realized that my original standpoint was wrong. :)

Absolutely! Most Swedes are actually really good at writing and reading English (I use to "blame" it on the fact that we don't dub movies -- something rather unique in the world, TTBOMK it's only the Scaninavian countries plus the Netherlands that rather use subtitles), and this is an excellent opportunity to practice.

What is reason for limiting party membership to Swedish citizens? I mean one can hardly think of a more global issue than copyright or patents.
