Anonymous (2009-Aug-15)There are signs that media are already limiting access to their newspapers websites. Murdoch has already indicated he will do so by next year. So I foresee the day when we won't be able to read a newspaper on the internet without subscribing to it. Even old numbers of newspapers may have all their urls changed and only accessible to subscribers.

What is the PP view on this?

They are free to charge whatever they want. But sharing their news is legal if done non-commercially.

Edit: And they are not allowed to use DRM to protect the news.

Our view is this..

If murdoch want to really kill his online media empire, he is allowed to do that.

There is _always_ some papers online that will remain free, mabye not the largest like The Times, The Guardian, Wallstreet Journal etc.. But that only means that news will be more diversified which can only be a good thing..
