Yesterday the Tuusula District Court turned down all charges against a young man suspected of copyright crimes in the so called Finreactor case. More than 30 persons are prosecuted for using the Finreactor filesharing site which was closed down by the police after a massive investigation. The next Finreactor cases will be tried next week in the District Court of Turku.

The Court ruled that there was not enough evidence to link the suspects to the copied files. Out of the thousands of users of the Finreactor site, the police prosecutes only those who they allege to have been the administrators of the website, using email correspondence and user profiles as evidence of their involvement. The police could not present IP addresses as evidence. See www.turre.com

Do you mean they couldn't cite IPs as evidence because they don't have IPs, or because the court wouldn't accept them as evidence?
